Teleseminar schedule: Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 8pm ET and Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 4pm ET
People affected by ADHD often have trouble with creating and sticking to plans. They often feel overwhelmed by the idea of creating a big plan, thinking up all the components and implementing them to reach the plan’s goal. On the other hand, people affected by ADHD can make overly complex plans that are so complicated and time intensive they are unable to enact them. This teleseminar will look at the skills needed to create good solid plans and how to implement them. Additionally, you will be led through a planning process, always a good way to learn something. We Can Couple VIP Days
Schedule: Fri, Apr 4, 2014 – 7pm to 9:30pm ET and Sat, Apr 5, 2014 – 9am to 5:30pm ET in Washington, DC
Join ADHD coach Abigail Wurf, M.Ed, CLC, and meet with like-minded people in a small group for a journey that covers time management, planning (short and long-term), memory, emotional regulation, flexibility/shift and metacognition (understanding the people around you and yourself in that context.) Leave with your own long and short term plans, most importantly you will have the skills to see those plans through in the midst of your everyday life with the competing needs of everyone around you. Learn not only how to make “the plans” but also the soft skills to see them through.
The We Can Couple VIP Days is for couples affected by ADHD. In most cases one partner has ADHD but if both partners do usually one is more affected than the other.
Come and learn the common traps that couples affected by ADHD often fall into. One example is the “Chores War,” how to find satisfactory outcomes when figuring out responsibilities, compliance, and follow through regarding the chores related to the everyday life of a couple. I will help you develop an individualized system based on your particular needs.
You will learn how to spot the best opportunities for those important conversations that help you grow as a couple and increase the likelihood that you both end up on the same page. These conversations also facilitate your implementation of changes that you have both agreed upon. In addition, how you can increase the odds that these important conversations and agreements are remembered in the future and not just in the moment as is too often the case.
Take advantage of this opportunity to learn that the issues you both face are not about who is right and who is wrong or who has “got to do” what but about reveling in each other’s differences and mutuality.
Finally, you may both need to be reminded of the positive things that ADHD can teach us and can bring to a relationship.
